Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), stands as a premier broadline food distributor uniquely serving a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries across the Chicago market. Established with a commitment to excellence, Performance Foodservice goes beyond the typical role of a food distributor by fostering close relationships with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. This team not only delivers top-quality food products but also provides invaluable support to help restaurant owners improve operations, develop menus, select the best products, and implement effective operational strategies. The company prides itself on being more than just a distributor — it acts as a partner invested in the success and growth of local food service businesses.

Joining Performance Foodservice as a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver means becoming an essential part of America’s food distribution system. The role is vital, responsible for the timely and safe delivery of food products that help keep kitchens stocked and businesses thriving. Operating within the Chicago market, this position offers a competitive earning potential of $80,000 or more, complemented by a guaranteed daily minimum income of $309.14. The work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with dispatch times between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., which emphasizes a commitment to early-morning delivery to meet customer needs efficiently.

The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver position is multifaceted, involving driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. Whether operating over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, or drive and drop routes, drivers play a critical role in ensuring products arrive safely and in good condition. This role demands a professional demeanor as drivers act as the face of the company, building lasting customer relationships through frequent interactions and impeccable service. Drivers are also responsible for a variety of duties including safety inspections compliant with Department of Transportation regulations, performing pre- and post-trip checks, reporting maintenance needs, properly securing freight, accurate paperwork handling, collecting payments when necessary, and maintaining cleanliness and order. These responsibilities support the overall mission of delivering excellence and reliability to customers.

Performance Foodservice offers an inclusive and respectful working environment characterized by warmth and recognition. This culture supports employee growth, rewarding efforts and dedication. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, reflecting its commitment to employee well-being and professional development. By joining the Performance Foodservice team, drivers gain not only a job but a chance to advance within an industry leader while contributing to the vitality of local food service businesses and the broader food supply chain. This role represents a stable, rewarding career for those who are dependable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused.
