Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its extensive network, commitment to quality, and forward-thinking approach to the food industry. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of promotion from within and continuous improvement, making it a prime choice for those seeking a stable and rewarding career in food distribution. With a strong emphasis on safety, training, and leadership development, US Foods ensures that its employees are well-equipped to succeed in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The company offers comprehensive benefits beginning from the first day of employment, including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401K, life insurance, and more.
This role is for a US Foods CDL-A Driver, a critical position within the organization's logistics and distribution network. Drivers at US Foods are essential in delivering a wide range of food and beverage products to customers, ensuring timely and safe transport while maintaining excellent customer service standards. This position offers a competitive salary with the potential to earn up to $130,000 in the first year, along with a $15,000 retention bonus for eligible new hires. The schedule typically includes working Monday through Saturday, with two days off, requiring Saturday work. Dispatch times vary between midnight and 5:00 AM.
As a US Foods driver, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to deliver products, unloading deliveries carefully using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers, and verifying delivery accuracy with customers. Providing exceptional customer service is a key aspect of the role, enhancing the client experience and building lasting relationships. You will also be tasked with performing all necessary pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance. Physical demands include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights of 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift and working in a variety of weather conditions with frequent stops.
US Foods values integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Drivers are considered vital representatives of the company, both on and off the road, and their efforts contribute significantly to the success and reputation of the business. To comply with Department of Transportation regulations, drivers must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure database that monitors drug and alcohol program violations for CDL holders. This commitment to safety and accountability is central to US Foods’ operational philosophy.
The ideal candidate must hold a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications, be at least 21 years old, and have relevant commercial driving experience – either six months in any industry or three months in food and beverage delivery. Comfort with manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be required depending on location. Strong English communication skills are essential to ensure safety and customer interaction requirements are met.
Joining US Foods as a driver offers access to excellent leadership, ongoing training, and a supportive environment that encourages growth and recognition. Whether you are an experienced driver or looking to advance your career in food distribution, US Foods provides a competitive, engaging, and rewarding workplace where you can truly make an impact and build a future.
