The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is a critical position within the company, combining driving expertise, customer interaction, and operational responsibilities to deliver exceptional service. The shift typically begins early in the morning, from Monday to Friday starting between 3-6 AM, with occasional Saturdays based on operational needs.

Delivery Drivers at US Foods are responsible for safely operating trucks to deliver foodservice products to customers, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. This involves careful handling of goods using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks, and placing products in designated customer storage areas. The driver verifies delivery accuracy by obtaining proper signatures and may handle collections or payments when required. This role demands professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols to uphold US Foods’ high standards.

Physical demands of the position include routinely lifting and carrying product weights ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds, working in various weather conditions, and making frequent stops throughout the delivery route. Drivers must also conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.

Applicants must meet several requirements including being at least 21 years old, holding a valid CDL Class A license with relevant endorsements, and registering with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, which maintains real-time drug and alcohol program violation information. Preference is given to candidates with prior commercial driving experience, particularly in food and beverage delivery sectors. Candidates capable of operating manual transmission vehicles may have an advantage depending on location.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Minimum six months commercial driving experience or three months food and/or beverage delivery experience
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. repetitively
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops
  • Ability to read and communicate in English

Job Qualifications

  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
