The available position at Sygma Detroit is for a Tractor Trailer Driver who will be responsible for safely transporting products from warehouses to customer locations. The role is non-traveling in the sense that it operates from a fixed territory with no percentage of travel. The driver plays a crucial role in the last-mile delivery chain by adhering to safety protocols and company standards in transport and product handling. The driver must ensure timely deliveries, unload products manually or with equipment, handle returns and damaged goods, and maintain accurate paperwork including DOT logs and vehicle maintenance reports. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree
- 1 year tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Must be insurable to operate vehicle
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds
- Must have knowledge of DOT and Hazmat regulations
- Able to work overnight, weekends, holidays and overtime
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Must follow safety and food safety protocols
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree or completion of tractor trailer driving school
- 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
- Skill in driving long distances and problem solving
- Ability to operate 3 axle tractor, 45'-48' trailer, straight truck and on-board computer
- Ability to handle hazardous materials and maintain food safety
- Effective planning and organizational skills
- Ability to meet productivity standards
Job Duties
- Safely transports product from the warehouse to the customer location according to assigned route
- Unloads product from trailer by hand or using hand cart in all weather conditions
- Picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns and transports products back to warehouse
- Completes all paperwork including DOT logs, inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, and invoices accurately and timely
- Maintains food safety protocols such as temperature control and product inspection
- Operates assigned equipment including hand carts, pallets, load bars, and personal protective equipment
- Develops good relationships with customers through excellent service and clear communication
