The company maintains unique and close relationships with a diverse customer base, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a team composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists, Performance Foodservice goes beyond simple delivery, offering valuable advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and enhancing overall business performance. The company’s focus is on delivering not only delicious food but also meaningful support that helps independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams and grow their businesses sustainably.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is integral to maintaining seamless customer service and operational efficiency within the food supply chain. Operating mostly Monday through Friday with a home-daily schedule, this role offers competitive pay with potential earnings of up to $90,000 annually. Drivers in this role are responsible for delivering food and food service products to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner. This position requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive-and-drop assignments.
Beyond simply transporting goods, CDL-A Drivers serve as the company’s representatives, building lasting customer relationships through professional communication and dependable service. Safety is a paramount focus, with drivers conducting pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. They are responsible for ensuring the secure loading and unloading of freight, completing all associated paperwork accurately, and adhering to the company’s expected standards for safe driving and workplace conduct.
The role also emphasizes teamwork and cooperation, encouraging drivers to engage constructively with colleagues and contribute positively to the organizational culture. Drivers perform essential housekeeping duties to maintain clean and orderly work environments, supporting overall operational efficiency. Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment characterized by a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. The company offers a robust benefits package starting from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401k employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and various other incentives to promote both personal and professional growth.
This position represents a vital component of the country's food supply chain, and CDL-A Drivers have a direct impact on the satisfaction and success of the customers served by Performance Foodservice. It provides not only a career opportunity with growth potential but also a chance to contribute meaningfully to an essential industry that supports nutrition and food accessibility nationwide.
