This position is for a CDL-A Delivery Truck Driver who plays a vital role in the country’s food supply chain by ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and food-related products. The role involves driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. Delivery drivers at Core-Mark not only ensure that orders arrive in good condition but also represent the company to customers, building lasting relationships with them through professional communication and service. The driver must be comfortable with running team routes, performing three dispatches per week, and working two or more overnight shifts weekly. Candidates should have at least six months of experience driving tractor trailers.

Job Requirements

  • Must have at least six months of tractor trailer driving experience
  • Must be able to perform team routes
  • Must be okay with two or more overnight shifts per week
  • Must be able to perform all required safety inspections and comply with DOT regulations
  • Must pass drug test and criminal background check
  • Must have valid CDL-A license
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record for three years
  • Must be able to handle physical requirements including lifting products between 10 and 90 pounds
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to attain or hold a valid DOT Health Card

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Six plus months commercial driving experience with tractor trailers
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment like two-wheeler and lift gate to move and stack product cases

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Report all safety issues and repairs required while following all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products loaded
  • Check and complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Perform daily record of hours of service and log in accordance with DOT, state and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
