Job Description
McLane Company is a leading distributor in the United States with over 130 years of experience in supplying and moving products for some of America's favorite brands. Established in 1894, McLane has built a nationwide network spanning diverse sectors such as restaurant, retail, and e-commerce industries. As a company committed to innovation, McLane continually integrates the latest technology into its operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability in its distribution services. The organization prioritizes a people-centered culture, emphasizing ongoing team member training and safety to maintain its position as an industry leader. Known for its strong client relationships and dedication to safety, McLane has developed a reputation that supports long-term career growth for its employees.
The CDL-A Delivery Driver role at McLane offers a unique opportunity for drivers wanting to advance their careers with competitive compensation and excellent benefits. Drivers play a critical role in moving goods safely and reliably to various destinations, contributing directly to the supply chain that powers America’s economy. This is a full-time position that provides industry-leading pay ranging from $103,000 to $109,000 gross annually. Drivers also have the opportunity to earn a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 depending on experience. This role involves primarily 3rd shift dispatch, ensuring that deliveries are timely and efficient.
As a CDL-A Delivery Driver, candidates will be responsible for inspecting their tractor-trailers for defects before and after trips, submitting DOT inspection reports, and verifying delivery documentation like bills of lading and store keys especially for off-hour deliveries. The role demands skilled driving to maneuver tractor-trailers safely on highways and on customer premises, adhering to DOT regulations including proper maintenance of driver logs using manual methods or Peoplenet systems. Drivers will unload trailers and deliver products directly onto customer premises, maintaining accuracy and care throughout the process. The position requires a keen eye for detail, safety-conscious driving habits, and the ability to manage delivery protocols effectively. McLane supports its drivers with a strong benefits package provided from day one. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance along with flexible spending accounts (FSA) or health savings accounts (HSA), and company-paid life insurance. In addition, drivers accrue paid holidays, vacation time, and sick leave from the start of employment. A 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan also becomes available after 90 days of service.
Additional benefits include pet insurance, maternity and paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, tuition reimbursement, and other employee-oriented perks. The company fosters a culture where safety, reliability, adaptability, and dedication are valued traits. Prospective drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL-A), and have at least one year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience. Compliance with McLane’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and risk rating qualifications is mandatory. Effective communication and understanding of job-related safety protocols in English are essential to perform all tasks safely and efficiently. McLane is committed to equal employment opportunities and ensures all applicants receive consideration regardless of age, race, gender, or other protected status. Background checks and drug screens may be required. This role is an exceptional opportunity for drivers ready to join a company that values their hard work and dedication while providing the support necessary for a successful long-term career.
