Job Description

PFG Customized Distribution is a leading provider in the food supply chain industry, dedicated to meeting the unique needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. The company excels in offering customized attention, centralized contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, serving customers across the United States and in more than 40 countries worldwide. As a part of Performance Food Group and its subsidiaries, PFG Customized Distribution is committed to equal employment opportunities and fosters a diverse and inclusive workforce, ensuring a fair and respectful working environment for all employees regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws.

The Driver, Formula CDL-A plays an indispensable role in the food and food service delivery network, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of products vital to America’s food distribution system. This position is highly dynamic, involving a mix of local, overnight, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive and drop routes. The job requires operating newer trucks and equipment that are all automatic, performing ramp work, handling touch freight, and managing breakdown mixed pallets. The routes involve both solo and team driving with out-of-state layovers twice a week, emphasizing the need for drivers who can legally cross state lines without restrictions such as the K restriction. This employment type offers a weekly minimum pay of $1,540 when on the route.

This role is shaped by a strong focus on safety, customer service, and operational efficiency. Drivers are not only responsible for the physical operation of tractor trailers or straight trucks but also for engaging professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Driver responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, effectively communicating any safety hazards or maintenance needs, ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured, verifying deliveries with customers, completing all necessary paperwork accurately, and maintaining general housekeeping of the vehicle and loading areas.

The position offers a rewarding career with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits starting from day one. Benefits include health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. PFG Customized Distribution promotes a safe and inclusive working environment that celebrates rewards, recognition, and respect for its employees, resulting in growth opportunities for those committed to performing essential work in support of America’s food distribution network. The role is essential in not only maintaining supply chain integrity but also building lasting relationships with customers, representing the company’s values and commitment to service excellence.
