Job Requirements
- Must be able to cross state lines with no K restriction
- able to work solo and team routes
- able to handle out of state layovers twice per week
- able to perform ramp work and handle touch freight
- able to perform breakdown of mixed pallets
- maintain good physical condition to hand-lift and move products typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
- comply with all Department of Transportation regulations
- maintain a clean driving record and pass required drug and background checks
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- six months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- must be 21 plus years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company
- performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products
- checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money where required and secures trailer doors
- ensures tractor, trailer and freight are locked and secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters log in accordance with regulations
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
- secures all equipment and completes paperwork at end of shift
- performs other related duties as assigned
