Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a premier food service distribution company that caters specifically to some of America's most renowned national chain restaurants, such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. With a vast reach extending across the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide, PFG Customized Distribution specializes in providing tailored distribution services that meet the unique requirements of each customer. Their centralized contact point allows for seamless account coordination, menu adjustments, and product line management, making them a trusted partner in the food distribution industry. The company's focus on quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction has earned them a reputable stance in the market, supported by a commitment to inclusivity, safety, and employee development.
The position available is for a CDL-A Driver, a critical role within the food supply chain responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. This role requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries. The CDL-A Driver not only ensures that products arrive in good condition according to established schedules but also acts as the face of the company by building strong, lasting relationships with customers.
This role offers competitive compensation of up to $90,000 annually with bi-weekly pay cycles alongside flexible scheduling options. Although overnight shifts are necessary, the position guarantees that drivers are home weekly and typically engage in 3 to 4-day OTR runs. Beyond the monetary benefits, the company provides comprehensive offerings starting from Day 1 health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The work environment prioritizes safety, inclusivity, respect, and recognition, making it a culture where employees are valued and supported.
As a CDL-A Driver at PFG Customized Distribution, you will be involved in performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as company guidelines for safe driving. Your responsibilities will include verifying freight load security, accurately completing necessary paperwork, communicating professionally with customers and vendors, unloading and delivering products to designated areas, and maintaining the tractor, trailer, and loading areas in clean and safe conditions. You'll also be tasked with documenting hours of service in compliance with DOT and company standards, managing customer transactions when applicable, and undertaking general housekeeping duties.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone with a strong safety focus, excellent customer service orientation, and the ability to work as part of a dynamic team. Physical endurance is important, as you will need to handle and move product cases weighing between 10 and 35 pounds, sometimes up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds depending on location and equipment used such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Essential qualifications include a valid CDL-A license, a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years, and the ability to pass all required road tests, drug screenings, and background checks. The position emphasizes ongoing compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements as well as DOT health card standards.
Working with PFG Customized Distribution means joining a company that truly values diversity, equality, and employee well-being. They are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, or any other legally protected status, fostering a workplace that respects and celebrates individual differences. As part of this organization, you will find growth opportunities in a stable sector that plays a vital role in America's food distribution system.
