Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor committed to supporting a wide variety of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Known for its deep industry expertise, Performance Foodservice offers not just products but also valuable consulting on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection. The company prides itself on fostering close relationships with customers, enabling restaurant owners and foodservice operators to improve their operations and realize their business goals. By emphasizing both quality and service, Performance Foodservice is a key player in the nation’s food supply network, delivering more than just food — delivering success and satisfaction.

The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position that supports America’s food distribution system by ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and food-related products. This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $95,000 annually, with a mandatory work schedule on Monday, Friday, and Saturday, dispatching between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM, and designated days off on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The company creates a safe and inclusive working environment where respect, rewards, and recognition are cornerstones of its culture.

As a CDL-A Driver, you will operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight 'drive and drop' assignments. The role demands compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as adherence to company safe driving policies. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to performing safety checks, loading and unloading products, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, maintaining required paperwork, and ensuring that freight and equipment are secured properly.

This position is perfect for individuals who are dedicated to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. The CDL-A Driver serves as the face of Performance Foodservice in communities, reinforcing the company’s brand and commitment through every delivery. Drivers are expected to perform pre- and post-trip inspections, manage freight counting and documentation with precision, and handle customer returns and damaged goods appropriately. The role also involves light manual labor such as hand-lifting product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds and using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.

Performance Foodservice offers substantial benefits starting from the first day of employment, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, generous paid time off, and internal growth opportunities. The company also promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring practices and workplace culture, providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified candidates regardless of background.

Joining Performance Foodservice means becoming part of a respected leader in the foodservice distribution industry, working in a dynamic and supportive environment where your contributions help feed communities and support local businesses across the country. This role not only provides stability and financial rewards but also a meaningful way to contribute to the food supply chain that is essential to daily life in America.
