Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States with a strong culture centered on growth from within, continuous improvement, and excellent training programs. As one of the largest food distributors nationwide, US Foods is committed to providing top-notch products and services that positively impact the communities in which they operate. The company offers excellent career opportunities for motivated and skilled individuals who wish to build a rewarding career in the foodservice industry. US Foods values its employees and supports their professional growth through comprehensive training, strong safety cultures, and leadership development programs.

This particular opportunity is for a US Foods Driver located in Hardeeville, South Carolina. This role offers a competitive starting pay of $28.50 per hour during the training period which lasts between 2 to 8 weeks. After training, pay transitions into a component pay system based on miles driven, cases delivered, and stops made. Additional incentives are also available, making this a lucrative position for highly motivated drivers. The work schedule is structured as a 4-day work week (Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), with dispatching occurring between 2:00 am and 6:00 am. Drivers work until all deliveries are completed, with the company emphasizing flexibility as days and hours may change depending on business needs.

The primary responsibilities of the driver focus on the safe operation of trucks to deliver food products to customers on schedule. This includes loading and unloading products using equipment like two-wheelers and pallet jacks, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, handling payments when applicable, and providing excellent customer service throughout the delivery process. Attention to detail and a thorough approach to pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle are essential to ensure safety and compliance. The physical demands of the job require lifting and moving heavy items repeatedly, often in varying and potentially inclement weather conditions.

Successful candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. A minimum of six months of commercial driving experience is required, or three months of experience specifically in food or beverage delivery. The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is necessary to safely operate a commercial vehicle and accurately complete necessary paperwork. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is mandatory as part of federal regulations.

US Foods is an inclusive Equal Opportunity Employer that respects diversity and does not discriminate based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability status. The company offers a robust benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plans, life insurance, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and an employee stock purchase plan. With strong local leadership and a supportive work environment, this driver role offers a promising career path for individuals interested in contributing to a trusted and respected organization within the foodservice industry.
