Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a pivotal role in the foodservice industry by delivering essential food products to local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The role of the CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is integral to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the food distribution supply chain across the nation. Serving as the face of the company, the delivery drivers not only ensure that products arrive on time and in excellent condition but also build and maintain positive relationships with customers. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually, with a work schedule comprising a 3 am to 6 am dispatch followed by Monday to Friday day shifts. Additionally, eligible drivers receive a sign-on bonus of $7,500, enhancing the overall compensation package.
This position requires operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for safely delivering food and food-related products to customers according to schedule while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. Responsibilities include comprehensive vehicle inspections, verifying freight accuracy, securing loads, completing required documentation accurately, handling customer transactions when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the equipment and work areas.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- age 21 or older
- compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
- clear motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- successful completion of post offer drug test and criminal background check
- passing road test
- possession or ability to obtain valid DOT Health Card
- physical ability to hand-lift and operate equipment to move freight
- willingness to abide by all DOT regulations and company policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization as required and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money where required
- loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork
- completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- at the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- performs other related duties as assigned
