The position available is for a CDL-A Driver, an essential role within the company that guarantees the timely and safe delivery of food and food service products using tractor trailers or straight trucks. This full-time position, offering an attractive annual guaranteed salary of $96,200, provides a Monday through Friday schedule with home daily, contributing to a healthy work-life balance. Drivers at Performance Foodservice are not only responsible for transporting goods but also act as the front-line representatives of the company, fostering relationships with customers through professionalism and reliability.
The CDL-A Driver must comply with Department of Transportation regulations while performing safety inspections of vehicles and ensuring all freight is loaded, secured, and delivered correctly. The role involves driving on various routes including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Duties include interacting with customers, handling delivery paperwork accurately, managing cargo with care, and undertaking related tasks such as equipment maintenance and general housekeeping to keep the truck and loading dock areas clean and organized.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- age 21 or older
- compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements
- clean motor vehicle report for the last 3 years
- successful completion of post offer drug test
- successful completion of road test
- possession of or ability to obtain current DOT Health Card
- physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases/freight of weights ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 12 plus months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21 plus years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization
- performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- collects money where required
- loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- unloads all equipment and materials and removes trash from trailers as required
- completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
- secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of shift
- performs other related duties as assigned
