The company prides itself on building strong relationships with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. They not only provide high-quality food products but also offer valuable advice on operations improvement, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. Performance Foodservice is committed to delivering exceptional service that goes beyond just fulfilling orders, aiming to empower independent restaurant owners and other clients to succeed in their respective markets. The firm emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment, offers competitive pay and benefits, and fosters growth opportunities within the food distribution sector.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is essential to maintaining the integrity of the company’s extensive food supply chain. This role involves operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks for local, intrastate, and interstate deliveries, including over-the-road, shuttle, and drive-and-drop routes. The driver is responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and food-related products to various customers, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Working hours are scheduled from 3 am to 6 am for dispatch, with a Monday to Friday day shift structure, offering an average annual pay range of $80,000 to $90,000. New hires are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $7,500, provided they have not worked for a PFG-owned company within the last six months.
Beyond driving, the CDL-A Driver acts as the company's representative, building meaningful relationships with customers through professional communication and reliable service. Responsibilities include conducting pre and post-trip safety inspections, maintaining compliance with DOT and company safety standards, handling delivery paperwork accurately, collecting payments when required, and performing various loading and unloading duties. Drivers also ensure all freight is properly secured, manage equipment safely, and carry out housekeeping tasks in their trucks and dock areas. This role requires physical capability to handle freight and utilize equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates efficiently. Performance Foodservice places high importance on safety, respect, and teamwork, with the CDL-A Driver position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to America's food service industry while growing professionally in a supportive company culture.
