Job Description
Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, stands as a prominent leader in the food distribution sector, specializing in fresh and broad-line solutions tailored for the convenience retail industry. As a Fortune 150 company generating over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark has built a stellar reputation by empowering its customers, employees, and communities across the United States and Canada. Their extensive distribution network supports a diverse range of products, programs, and solutions that are pivotal to convenience retail success.
This position is an essential role within the food supply chain, offering competitive pay ranging between $75,000 and $85,000 annually, coupled with a comprehensive benefits package that starts from day one of employment. The role follows a Sunday to Thursday schedule with four days on and one day on-call, providing a well-structured workweek with dispatch times varying according to shift specifics, which are discussed during the interview process.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver position is critical for ensuring that food products reach customers reliably, safely, and on time. Drivers act as the face of Core-Mark, fostering strong, long-lasting relationships with customers by providing professional and courteous service with every delivery. This role demands a high level of responsibility, as drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes.
Primary responsibilities include conducting thorough safety checks pre and post-trip adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintaining company safety standards, and reporting any required repairs or safety hazards immediately. Drivers verify load accuracy, inspect freight security, and ensure paperwork is completed legibly and accurately to facilitate smooth operations. Deliveries require precise route adherence and timely unloading of products, often involving physically handling goods ranging from 10 to 90 pounds.
Customer interaction is a key component, where drivers confirm deliveries by obtaining signatures, collect payments when necessary, and handle product returns efficiently. Safety and security standards must be upheld at all times, ensuring that equipment and freight are properly secured during transit. Following each route, drivers are expected to perform log entries in alignment with federal, state, and company protocols, maintaining transparency and compliance in reporting hours of service.
This role also embodies Core-Mark's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive working environment that values recognition, respect, and rewarding hard work. Employees benefit from growth opportunities within a company dedicated to supporting America’s food distribution system, making this a fulfilling career path for highly motivated and dependable individuals. Core-Mark’s culture promotes diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, and other legally protected characteristics, ensuring a supportive workplace for all.
