The Catering Sales Manager role at HHM Hotels is a pivotal position responsible for achieving and surpassing catering department goals through effective sales and service of banquet and meeting functions. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying new business opportunities and nurturing relationships with existing clients in both corporate and social markets. The manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering sales, including solicitation, closing, and ensuring thorough documentation of account details. They will lead a team by recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching, and supporting associates to perform at the highest level in alignment with the brand and hotel standards as well as the company's core values.

Key responsibilities include maximizing revenue by promoting all facets of the hotel to current and prospective clients, preparing and managing banquet event orders and group resumes, and maintaining top-tier service standards. The role requires excellent communication skills to convey clear direction to staff and provide clients with outstanding service and catered products. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other movements typical in a dynamic hospitality environment. The work schedule may vary, including holidays and weekends, reflecting the nature of the hospitality industry.

Job Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field preferred
  • Proven experience in catering and banquet sales required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds bending stooping kneeling and crouching
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and wear protective equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related industry preferred
  • Proven track record in catering and banquet sales
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Proficiency in MS Office and catering sales software

Job Duties

  • Interview select train schedule coach and support associates ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values
  • Oversee all catering sales targeted towards existing and new corporate and social markets
  • Solicit new business making prospecting calls and outside client visits
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel both orally and in written form to previous current and potential clients
  • Handle account details ensuring all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented
  • Service accounts including BEOs and Group Resumes when necessary
  • Prepare information for meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate to obtaining potential business from that account
  • Provide an exceptional level of service and acquire the highest quality of catered products for our clients
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff
  • Practice safe work habits wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
