Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Elior Collegiate Dining is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Catering Captain to join their dedicated team. The Catering Captain is a pivotal position responsible for coordinating and executing catering events with precision and flair.

The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including managing the preparation and high-quality presentation of food for various events, ensuring food safety and compliance with health regulations, and overseeing inventory control to maintain adequate food supplies. The Catering Captain will operate advanced POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS (with Catertrax integration) to efficiently process orders and manage transactions with accuracy.

A key component of this position is leadership and team management. The Catering Captain will train and supervise staff, instilling best practices in food handling, safety protocols, and customer service excellence. Collaboration with event planners to customize menus that meet client specifications is also essential in this role, making the Catering Captain a central figure in crafting memorable and seamless event experiences.

Beyond operational duties, the Catering Captain is involved in budgeting for catering events to balance profitability with quality standards, as well as participating in the hiring process to select qualified kitchen staff members. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within quick service or fast food environments
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Experience in hospitality or restaurant management roles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Availability to work full-time onsite
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Familiarity with catering event coordination and budgeting

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within quick service or fast food environments
  • Background in fine dining or casual dining settings is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the food industry
  • Experience in hospitality management or restaurant management roles is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, with experience in training and development of staff members
  • Familiarity with kitchen management practices, including shift management and supervising kitchen operations
  • Previous experience in catering services or banquet operations is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
