Job Description

Cask is a boutique retail store and neighborhood craft beverage tap room located on College Avenue in Berkeley, positioned conveniently between the vibrant neighborhoods of Rockridge and Elmwood. Established as a unique destination for enthusiasts of small-production and hard-to-find spirits, wines, beers, and bar tools, Cask prides itself on offering a highly curated selection of products. Beyond their retail operations, the Cask Tap Room provides an engaging and educational environment for guests to explore a rotating array of specialty pours that reflect the diverse inventory available in their store. This blend of retail and hospitality enables Cask to foster a community of beverage connoisseurs and casual customers alike, emphasizing a deep appreciation for craft beverages alongside exceptional guest service. The Cask team is known for their knowledge-first approach, helping customers discover new favorites and connect the experience of tasting with the opportunity to bring home sought-after bottles. Cask operates with a commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds to join their dynamic team. This role is part-time, with shifts scheduled Thursday through Sunday, with hourly compensation at $19.18 plus tips.

The Bartender role at the Cask Tap Room is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and craft beverages who seek a vibrant and engaging work environment. As a bartender, you will be at the forefront of guest interaction, responsible for providing exceptional, friendly, and informed bar service in a casual yet craft-focused setting. The ideal candidate will engage visitors by sharing product knowledge and making personalized recommendations, enhancing the overall experience for both new and returning guests. Your role extends beyond simply serving drinks; you will help educate customers about the nuanced flavors and stories behind the spirits, wines, and beers served, thus encouraging purchases both for immediate enjoyment and for retail sale. Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient bar space comes with the responsibility of ensuring high standards of professionalism and hospitality. The schedule for shifts ranges from mid-afternoon to late evening, providing a dynamic environment with varied customer interactions. At Cask, you will join a team that values enthusiasm, adaptability, and the continuous growth of knowledge in craft beverages, enabling you to build both professional skills and personal confidence. The company supports employee development through access to industry events featuring brand representatives, distributors, winemakers, brewers, and distillers. In addition, comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, and a matching 401(k) program are available to qualifying staff, alongside discounts on products and educational reimbursements for relevant certifications. This role requires a confident personality comfortable with guest engagement and knowledge-sharing, alongside proficiency with point-of-sale and basic IT systems. If you are driven by hospitality and want to be part of a team where your passion for craft beverages is nurtured, this position at Cask Tap Room offers a rewarding and stimulating career path.
