A typical day for a Sales Associate involves greeting customers warmly and efficiently operating the register with accuracy and speed. Knowledge in handling age-restricted sales such as lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol is important, alongside ensuring compliance with all legal age verification requirements. Aside from customer interaction and sales duties, the job entails regular cleaning and maintenance tasks essential to store upkeep, like sweeping, mopping, sanitizing gas pumps, trash removal in various weather conditions, and organizing stock.
