The role being offered is a Front-End Team Member position, integral to delivering exceptional customer service and supporting daily retail operations at Whole Foods Market. This position requires the individual to act as a welcoming face and provide all guest service functions according to established procedures. Responsibilities include efficiently checking out customer groceries, adhering to government regulations such as those involving the sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation, and following cashier protocols including cash handling and credit procedures. Team Members in this role maintain attractive and orderly customer service areas and support the company’s regional Customer Service Vision by ensuring each customer has a positive shopping experience. This position demands close attention to detail, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Employees are also expected to be proactive in participating in company programs and initiatives, contributing to the overall success and sustainability of the store.

Beyond routine cashier duties, the Front-End Team Member assists with managing customer flow to reduce wait times, may train new team members, and ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Physical stamina is needed, as the job involves standing or walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks. Whole Foods Market offers a competitive wage range of $19.00 to $25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience, alongside comprehensive benefits under the "Whole Benefits" program. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • ability to lift 50 pounds

  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals

Job Duties

  • Checks out customer groceries efficiently and accurately
  • upholds government regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation
  • follows proper check, ATM, and credit procedures
  • uses proper tares procedures when ringing up scalable items
  • cleans and stocks Front End areas, including own register
  • follows all cash handling procedures meeting and exceeding regional cashier variance policy
  • assists with training of new Cashier and Cashier Assistant Team Members
  • assists supervisor in controlling customer flow and backed up lines to reduce waiting time
  • participates proactively in company programs as directed by leadership
  • arrives to workstation on time and ready to work
  • provides excellent customer service and addresses needs of customers
  • maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of product
  • complies with weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • reports safety hazards and violations immediately
