This Customer Service & E-Commerce Team Member role is designed to support the front-line operations within the store’s customer service and e-commerce departments. The position involves assisting customers during the checkout process, performing cash register functions with accuracy, bagging groceries professionally, and managing the customer service desk to ensure all customer needs are met promptly and courteously. An essential part of this role is maintaining the visual appeal of customer service displays and aligning with the Whole Foods Market customer service vision to create a positive shopping environment. The job also requires adherence to strict operational procedures and health and safety regulations including food safety standards.

Team Members in this role are expected to collaborate closely with other store employees and leadership to promote core company values and support various corporate initiatives and programs. This includes participating proactively in organizational activities, complying with all cash handling and sales procedures, and upholding government regulations related to the sale of age-restricted products like alcohol. The Customer Service & E-Commerce Team Member must be adaptable and willing to undertake duties outside their primary job description as needed, such as assigned shopper tasks within the broader customer service team.

The position demands strong communication skills, patience, teamwork, and a dedication to customer satisfaction throughout every interaction. Team Members should be able to manage customer flow effectively by assisting with reducing wait times and resolving any service issues in a timely manner. Additionally, they are responsible for upkeep and cleanliness of the work area, ensuring an organized and sanitized environment that meets store standards. The role includes operating various store equipment safely, including electric pallet jacks and box cutters, and requires physical capabilities such as lifting up to 50 pounds and working on their feet for extended periods.

The wage range for this role is $20.00 to $29.73 per hour, depending on experience, with Whole Foods Market offering a comprehensive "Whole Benefits" package. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Ability to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling with hands
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • Ability to work in wet and cold environments
  • Must arrive to work on time, appropriately groomed and dressed
  • Must follow established safety, health, and sanitation standards
  • May require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Demonstrates patience in dealing with customers and Team Members
  • Maintains proficiency with the Cashier Code Book and PLUs
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures

Job Duties

  • Checks out customer groceries efficiently and accurately
  • Upholds government regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation
  • Follows proper check, ATM, and credit procedures
  • Uses proper tares procedures when ringing up scalable items
  • Cleans and stocks Front End areas, including own register - changing tapes and ribbon as necessary
  • Follows all cash handling procedures - meeting and exceeding regional cashier variance policy
  • May assist with training of new Cashier and Cashier Assistant Team Members
