Job Description
Dish Society is a dynamic and award-winning restaurant concept that has firmly established itself in the heart of Texas, particularly in Houston and now expanding within Austin. Known for its dedication to fresh, locally sourced ingredients and chef-driven seasonal menus, Dish Society stands out as a beacon of fine fast casual dining. Founded by Austinites and University of Texas alumni, the brand embodies the spirit and culture of Austin, blending high-quality culinary experiences with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers a unique dining approach where guests can order at the counter and enjoy self-service drinks or indulge in full bar service with craft cocktails, local beers, and a carefully curated wine list. This fusion of casual sophistication and genuine hospitality has earned Dish Society prestigious accolades such as Houston Press's Top 25 Restaurants and USA Today's Best Brunch in Texas.
The role of the Cashier at Dish Society is integral to delivering an exceptional guest experience and is much more than simply operating a register. Cashiers are the first point of contact, setting the tone for the entire front-of-house experience by greeting guests warmly, taking accurate orders, running food, preparing drinks, and engaging with patrons, including those who bring their pets along for a visit. This full-service approach ensures that the restaurant’s commitment to hospitality is upheld at every interaction. New cashiers start at $15 per hour during training, progressing to base pay plus tips once fully trained. The position is designed for enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and seek both flexibility and growth within the vibrant hospitality industry.
Dish Society encourages teamwork and collaboration, with cashiers cross-trained to assist in multiple front-of-house roles such as barista and basic bartending duties. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and organized workspace, handling stocking and inventory tasks, supporting sustainability initiatives, and contributing to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. Physical capabilities like lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds are necessary to perform daily duties effectively. The company values pride in craftsmanship, hospitality, personal and professional growth, and a strong sense of connectedness to the community and sustainability practices. The role requires weekend availability and offers both full-time and part-time positions, making it ideal for those looking to engage deeply in a respected, socially responsible food service environment while advancing their career.
