Job Description

Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a prominent FORTUNE 100 home improvement company that plays a significant role in serving millions of customers each week. With total fiscal year 2025 sales of more than $86 billion, Lowe's operates a vast network of over 1,700 home improvement stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers across the nation. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's continues to uphold its commitment to supporting communities through initiatives aimed at creating safe, affordable housing, improving community spaces, fostering the development of the next generation of skilled trade experts, and providing disaster relief when needed. Employing approximately 300,000 associates, Lowe's is a leader in the retail home improvement industry and values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment in all its practices.

As a cashier at Lowe's, you become a crucial part of this influential company, serving as the frontline representative of Lowe's in providing an exceptional customer experience. This role is vital as you ensure every customer leaves the store feeling satisfied with friendly, efficient service. Your primary responsibility is to deliver a quick and professional checkout experience, maintaining the balance between speed and personalization that Lowe's is known for. Additionally, you'll provide assistance in the self-checkout areas, manage transactions accurately, and handle customer inquiries and exchanges.

While the cashier role largely involves operating the cash register and processing payments, it also offers varied tasks such as supporting other departments, stocking shelves, or managing shopping carts, contributing to the smooth operation of the store. This dynamic environment makes the cashier position at Lowe's perfect for individuals who enjoy engaging with customers, problem-solving, and adapting to a fast-paced retail setting.

Lowe's supports its associates by offering competitive pay and flexible schedules designed to accommodate diverse needs, whether you're seeking part-time work or a long-term career. Beyond compensation, Lowe's provides numerous benefits that promote associate well-being and personal growth, including multiple top-tier health insurance options, a tuition assistance program, and a company-matching 401(k) plan. There is also an Employee Stock Purchase Program and a 10% associate discount, empowering employees to save while they shop or build financial security for the future. For those interested in advancing their trade skills, Lowe's Track to the Trades program offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

This role does not require regular travel but may occasionally require you to attend meetings, training sessions, or support neighboring stores. Working conditions may vary by location, and you should be prepared for environments ranging from indoor to outdoor settings, including exposure to different weather conditions and noise levels. The physical aspects of the job include standing or sitting for extended periods and occasionally lifting items up to 75 pounds, with safe lifting practices and powered equipment use when applicable.

Lowe's values diversity and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, encouraging bilingual, military, and veteran candidates to apply. By joining Lowe's, you not only embark on a rewarding retail journey but also contribute to a company devoted to community enrichment and excellence in customer service, rooted in a culture of growth, teamwork, and inclusivity.
