With total fiscal 2025 sales exceeding $86 billion, Lowe's operates more than 1,750 home improvement stores, 540 branches, and 120 distribution centers. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's employs approximately 300,000 associates dedicated to serving communities by ensuring availability of quality products, creating safe and affordable housing initiatives, improving public spaces, developing the next generation of skilled trade experts, and providing disaster relief. As one of the largest retailers in the United States, Lowe's commitment to customers, associates, and communities is demonstrated through sustainable growth, diversity and inclusion efforts, and comprehensive benefit programs designed to support employee well-being and career advancement.
The role of a cashier at Lowe's is central to delivering a positive customer experience in a fast-paced retail environment. Cashiers play a vital part in ensuring every customer leaves the store satisfied by providing a quick, friendly, and professional checkout experience. This position involves managing payments, handling exchanges, accurately scanning and bagging purchased items, and assisting customers with any questions or concerns they may have at the point of sale. While the primary duty is operating the cash register, cashiers also contribute to store operations by supporting other departments, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Lowe's offers flexible employment options including part-time positions that can fit various lifestyle needs, as well as opportunities for career growth within the company. Starting pay for the cashier position is $15.00 per hour, with potential variation based on factors like location, education, training, and experience. Employees benefit from multiple health insurance options, a 10% associate discount, access to Lowe's tuition assistance program, and opportunities to learn new trade skills. Additionally, Lowe's provides a company-matching 401(k) retirement account, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, and an Employee Assistance Program that offers work-life services and no-cost counseling. This supportive environment encourages associates to grow their skills and achieve personal and professional goals.
Lowe's values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment. The company strongly encourages applications from bilingual candidates, military personnel, veterans, and others who contribute to a diverse workforce. Work conditions for the cashier role may include both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather and occasional lifting requirements, generally limited to 75 pounds with team lifts and powered equipment usage as necessary. While this role does not regularly require travel, occasional trips for meetings, training, or supporting neighboring stores may be required. Overall, working as a cashier at Lowe's offers a fulfilling opportunity to interact with customers, contribute to community-focused projects, and partake in a dynamic and growing retailer that values teamwork and associate development.
