Job Description

Lowe's Companies, Inc. is a leading FORTUNE 100 home improvement company known for its extensive network of over 1,700 home improvement stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers across the United States. Serving approximately 16 million customer transactions weekly, Lowe's is dedicated to providing exceptional products and services to homeowners, contractors, and businesses. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's continues to expand its impact with total fiscal year 2025 sales exceeding $86 billion. The company takes pride in its commitment to community support, including initiatives for safe and affordable housing, community space enhancement, disaster relief, and the development of skilled trade experts through education and training programs.

Working as a cashier at Lowe's means playing a crucial role in delivering an outstanding customer experience. This position involves more than just processing payments; it is about ensuring each customer leaves the store satisfied and with a positive impression of Lowe's. Cashiers provide fast, friendly, and accurate service at the checkout, engaging with customers to answer questions and assist with transactions including payments and exchanges. They also support customers using self-checkout areas and may assist other store departments when needed.

Lowe's values its associates by offering flexible schedules suitable for part-time or full-time needs and competitive pay. Employees benefit from a comprehensive set of perks including multiple top-tier health insurance options, a generous tuition assistance program, a company-matching 401(k) plan, and an Employee Stock Purchase Program that helps employees take charge of their financial futures. Additionally, Lowe's offers a 10% Associate Discount, and workforce development programs such as Track to the Trades, which help employees learn new trade skills. These benefits underline Lowe's commitment to supporting the growth, well-being, and success of its team members.

The cashier role requires standing or sitting for extended periods, the ability to operate computers and cash registers, and managing basic monetary transactions accurately. Candidates must have basic literacy and numeracy skills and be able to lift items with some physical effort involved. Experience in retail or customer service, along with bilingual abilities, are advantageous as Lowe's actively encourages growth among diverse talent including bilingual and veteran applicants. The role does not demand consistent travel but may include occasional trips for meetings, training, or assisting nearby stores.

Working at Lowe's also means adapting to variable weather conditions and working environments, as well as adhering to safety protocols for lifting and handling merchandise. The company emphasizes team collaboration and safety by limiting heavy lifting and encouraging the use of equipment and teamwork to manage load handling effectively. Lowe's is committed to providing an inclusive workplace that values diversity, equal opportunity, and aims to foster a respectful and supportive environment for all employees, regardless of background or identity.

Joining Lowe's as a cashier offers not just a job but an opportunity for meaningful work within a respected retail leader that cares deeply about its people, customers, and communities.
