Job Description
Del Taco is a renowned privately held company operating or franchising approximately 500 Mexican quick service restaurants throughout the United States, making it the second largest Mexican restaurant chain worldwide by system sales. Known for its fresh ingredients and made-to-order food, Del Taco offers a diverse menu that includes unique Mexican dishes alongside American favorites such as Double Deli cheeseburgers, shakes, world-famous crinkle cut fries, and 24-hour drive-thru services. The restaurant chain prides itself on delivering quality food, excellent customer service, and consistent cleanliness across all locations. Del Taco's commitment to fresh food and customer satisfaction has helped it maintain a strong presence in the fast-food industry with a loyal customer base and a solid reputation.
The Cashier role at Del Taco is an essential position that helps optimize restaurant sales and cash flow while ensuring that quality service standards, cleanliness, and customer experience are upheld. This role requires team members to be versatile and perform various duties with precision and friendliness, maintaining hygiene and workflow at assigned stations. Cashiers at Del Taco are not only responsible for handling monetary transactions but also play a vital role in engaging with customers, preparing food items, managing orders both at the walk-up and drive-thru stations, delivering orders, assembling meals, and overseeing beverage service.
The job offers an hourly wage ranging between $11 and $13 and involves hands-on operations in different roles within the restaurant, such as food preparation, order taking, order delivery, drink preparation, and drive-thru assistance. Each position within the cashier role demands that employees have a thorough knowledge of the menu, food ingredients, and customer service protocols. They are expected to maintain cleanliness and organization while adhering to Del Taco's uniform and grooming policies.
This role requires flexibility, both in the hours worked and the tasks undertaken. Depending on the shift and restaurant needs, cashiers may take on various responsibilities, such as the prep person preparing food items and setting up stations, the dining room order taker greeting customers and handling cash control, or the drive-thru order taker managing orders and operating the speaker system. There are also specific roles like the assembly person, who ensures orders are accurate and promptly delivered, the drink person handling beverage orders, and the grill or taco bar persons responsible for food preparation to quality standards.
Working as a cashier at Del Taco means being part of a fast-paced environment that requires standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and reliably executing duties given by upper management. The company values strong communication skills, self-reliance, and teamwork. Employees must be able to speak, read, and write effectively in English to interact with managers, corporate staff, fellow employees, and customers smoothly. The role is suitable for individuals seeking employment in an energetic food service setting where they can develop customer service expertise while contributing to the operational success of a flourishing restaurant brand.
