The Cashier role at Total Wine & More is a vital position within the retail operation, functioning as the Front End Team Member and serving as the face of the store. This role is essential in providing fast, friendly, and accurate service to customers, ensuring their visits are enjoyable and memorable. Cashiers are responsible for processing sales transactions with efficiency and accuracy, including payment handling, identification verification, and promoting the store's loyalty program. Additionally, the position may involve rotation into sales associate or merchandiser/stock associate duties, offering a well-rounded retail experience.

Employees in this role are expected to deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, engaging with them to build strong relationships, and offering valuable information about products and services. The role demands physical stamina, as team members are required to stand for extended periods, handle inventory tasks requiring lifting and carrying, and occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • walk bend down repeatedly and be on feet for 8-10 hours a day
  • ability to safely lift load and handle cases and pallets
  • climb ladders and lift 50 lbs overhead and repeatedly
  • may be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • passion for best-in-class customer service and team player mindset
  • 1-3 years of work experience with 1+ years in a retail setting preferred
  • familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software
  • ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires including evenings and weekends

Job Duties

  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently including identification verification payment handling answering inquiries promoting loyalty program and bagging product
  • deliver exceptional service and a personalized experience by greeting customers engaging to build relationships and informing about products and services
  • participate in wine spirits and beer training to build product knowledge
  • maintain knowledge of advertisements promotions and loyalty programs
  • maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the store
  • ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
  • complete cross-functional responsibilities and other duties as assigned
