Costco Wholesale is a multinational corporation specializing in wholesale retailing, known for its membership-only warehouse clubs that offer a wide range of products from groceries to electronics at competitive prices. Founded in 1983, Costco has grown to become one of the largest retailers globally with a reputation for delivering quality products, exceptional value, and excellent customer service. Operating warehouse clubs in numerous states across the U.S. and internationally, Costco maintains a strong commitment to member satisfaction and operational efficiency. The company culture emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and a focus on providing members with a seamless shopping experience. As an established leader in the retail industry, Costco offers stable employment opportunities, competitive wages, and an extensive array of employee benefits to support work-life balance and professional growth.
This role is that of a Member Order Packer, a key position within Costco's frontline operations at the warehouse club. The Member Order Packer is responsible for efficiently packing member orders, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining a high standard of service throughout the checkout process. The position involves greeting members, assisting them with loading orders onto the conveyor belt, understanding their packing preferences, and providing answers to any questions they may have regarding promotions or products. The Packer carefully packs orders into boxes, checks packaging integrity, and organizes packed items onto carts or flatbeds for transport to the member. Additionally, this role supports cashiers by counting items, positioning products for scanning, and running errands such as retrieving merchandise or supplies to keep lines moving smoothly.
The Member Order Packer also plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the front-end area of the warehouse, performing clean-up duties, managing cart retrieval, and ensuring all safety and security procedures are followed. The position requires physical stamina as it involves operating equipment, pushing carts, and assisting members with loading orders into their vehicles when necessary. Flexibility is important, as the role may require assisting other departments or performing closing and set-up duties to maintain operational efficiency. Costco values employees who are proactive, attentive to detail, and dedicated to providing exemplary service to enhance the member experience.
Costco offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including paid time off, extensive health insurance covering medical, dental, vision, hearing aid, and behavioral health services, as well as employee assistance programs. Additional benefits include health care reimbursement accounts, dependent care assistance plans, short-term and long-term disability insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and a stock purchase plan. This full-time position requires open availability to meet the business's operational needs and mandates proof of authorization to work in the United States. The pay ranges for this role are competitive within the retail sector, reflecting Costco’s commitment to rewarding dedicated team members. Joining Costco as a Member Order Packer offers an opportunity to work within a respected organization known for valuing its employees and members alike, with growth prospects and a supportive work environment.
