The Cashier position at Columbia Dining Services involves crucial responsibilities related to the handling of monetary transactions and customer service. This role is ideal for individuals who have a keen eye for detail, strong numerical skills, and the ability to operate cash registers accurately and efficiently. Under immediate supervision, the Cashier will perform routine tasks such as setting up the cash register with sufficient change, calculating item costs, processing cash and card payments, and ensuring the accurate handling of cash receipts at the end of each shift. Attention to accuracy and integrity in managing cash transactions is paramount to the success of this role.

Furthermore, the Cashier will support daily dining operations by maintaining fluid transaction flow and interacting politely and professionally with customers. Job Duties

  • Set up cash register with sufficient change obtained from supervisor
  • Calculate the cost of items purchased by customer and enter on register (cash or charge)
  • Collect cash and make change
  • Collect cards for charge customers and scan on register
  • At the end of the shift, clear register and record the cash received and hand over cash to supervisor with bank
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management personnel
