Job Description

SpartanNash is a leading food solutions company that operates as a distributor, wholesaler, and retailer with a comprehensive global supply chain. As part of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash delivers grocery and household goods, including fresh produce and products under the Our Family portfolio, to locations across all 50 states. The company serves a diverse range of customers, including national accounts, independent and chain grocers, e-commerce retailers, U.S. military commissaries and exchanges, and its own brick-and-mortar grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers. SpartanNash prides itself on its braggingly happy team members, from bakery managers and order selectors to IT developers, finance officers, HR business partners, and export specialists. These dedicated employees are committed to creating braggingly happy customers who rely on SpartanNash for quality food solutions.

The role of Cashier at SpartanNash encompasses essential front-end responsibilities that include operating cash registers and electronic scanners to efficiently handle customer purchases. Cashiers itemize and total these purchases, receive payments through multiple financial methods, and assist customers with bagging their items courteously. The position requires understanding and proficiency in using check-stand equipment such as registers, scanners, scales, and belts to ensure smooth operational flow. Additionally, cashiers are tasked with merchandising duties like stocking newspapers, periodicals, and candy at the check-stand. They must accurately process transactions involving cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons, adhering to company policies. Maintaining product identification accuracy, reporting pricing errors, and keeping up to date with current store programs and product placements are also vital parts of the job.

SpartanNash emphasizes the importance of excellent customer service and communication, encouraging cashiers to share information about company programs, in-store specials, and loyalty initiatives. Furthermore, cashiers must comply with company policies relating to security, cash handling, product handling, and the sale of regulated items like alcohol and tobacco. Maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and safe working environment is another key responsibility. This role may also require assistance with stocking items and completing tasks in other departments based on customer service needs. Safety and food safety guidelines are strictly followed to ensure a pleasant customer experience. This position offers opportunities to contribute to a food solutions company with a strong culture that promotes associate development, recognizes success, fosters open communication, and builds a sense of belonging. SpartanNash also provides a competitive total rewards benefits package as part of its People First culture. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive hiring practices, including those for individuals with disabilities and Veterans. This role is located at 1100 13th Ave. East in West Fargo, North Dakota, and does not include sponsorship for work visas.
