Job Description

We are a licensed El Pollo Loco Franchisee company operating in Northern California with a strong team of over 500 employees across 29 restaurants, and numerous additional locations planned for the future. As a Guest Service Ambassador & Cashier at El Pollo Loco, you will be the first friendly face our guests encounter, providing excellent customer service with a courteous and welcoming demeanor. This role is crucial in delivering a seamless and enjoyable dining experience, whether guests arrive in the restaurant, use the drive-thru, or order via mobile platforms. As a cashier, your responsibilities include greeting guests, taking and processing orders accurately, and engaging in suggestive selling and upselling to enhance each guest's visit. You will handle payments, manage the cash register responsibly, and ensure that all transactions are accurate, including counting the register at the beginning and end of each shift.

In addition to cashier duties, you may be required to assist in various parts of the operation such as supporting peers in roles like expediter or service assistant, ensuring cleanliness and sanitary standards are maintained throughout the work area, and contributing to the training of new cashiers. This role demands a high level of energy and mobility, as you will be on your feet for extended periods and performing tasks such as reaching, bending, scrubbing, and lifting items up to 25 pounds. The ability to work effectively under pressure during peak business periods is essential to maintaining the fast and efficient service standards that define El Pollo Loco.

Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak, read, and understand English; knowledge of a second language is considered a plus. No prior experience is required, although some guest service experience is preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial but not mandatory. Holding a valid California food handler card is required to ensure food safety standards are met at all times. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment in product presentation to guarantee the highest quality food is served to our guests.
