The Store Associate role at Michaels in Alexandria and Potomac Yard, VA, is a critical position focused on delivering outstanding customer service while supporting the overall operations of the store. This role involves helping customers shop and find products effectively, providing expert guidance on the use of rewards programs and credit card enrollments, and maintaining efficient checkout experiences. Associates are responsible for executing stock management duties such as unloading trucks, stocking shelves, organizing merchandise according to planograms, and ensuring the store maintains high recovery and presentation standards. This position also supports omnichannel retail processes, including Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) services, linking traditional retail with digital shopping for a seamless customer experience. Additionally, associates contribute to shrink and safety programs and uphold compliance with all company policies and legal requirements. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and managing inventory in various store areas, including frame shops with specialized equipment.

Job Requirements
- At least sixteen years of age
- ability to remain standing for long periods of time
- physical ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch
- capability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves with ladder or similar equipment
- ability to work in a public retail store environment
- willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and early mornings
- legal eligibility to work in the U.S.

Job Qualifications
- Retail and/or customer service experience preferred
- ability to engage customers effectively
- experience in cash handling and sales transactions
- knowledge of merchandising and stock management principles
- familiarity with omnichannel retail processes preferred
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to adhere to company policies and procedures

Job Duties
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions
- provide a fast and friendly checkout experience
- execute cash handling to standards
- engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
- educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
- assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
- participate in the truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes
- complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, including merchandise return/go back process and general store recovery
- perform Store In Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements
- execute company policies and standards
- interact with others respectfully and positively
- promote commitment to organizational vision and values
- cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
- perform other duties as assigned
