Job Description
ResCare Community Living, a part of the Sevita family, is an established organization that has been providing quality services since 1974. We specialize in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently at home and within their communities. ResCare Community Living is dedicated to delivering person-centered services that help individuals build skills, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential. As a part of Sevita, a leading provider of home and community-based specialized health care, we share the belief that everyone deserves to live a full, independent life regardless of the physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges they face.
Our team of over 40,000 dedicated professionals serves approximately 50,000 individuals nationwide. We take pride in our innovative approaches and commitment to enhancing care and support for the people who rely on us. We foster an environment that values diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment, making us a leader in specialized health services across the United States.
The position offered is part-time with scheduled hours from Saturday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., based at our Euless, TX location. This role is an hourly, non-exempt position that focuses on providing direct support to individuals primarily living in residential settings or participating in periodic programs. The number of individuals supported ranges from 4 to 6 in residential programs and up to 10 individuals in periodic programs.
As a Direct Support Professional at ResCare Community Living, you will be responsible for delivering support that aligns with each individual's service or program plans. This includes supporting socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and skill or behavioral development. Your role is vital in assisting individuals with daily activities such as personal care, housekeeping, recreational involvement, transportation, community integration, shopping, and citizenship. These activities are central to enhancing the independence and quality of life for those we serve.
Additionally, the role involves critical responsibilities such as maintaining accurate documentation of progress and activities, managing individual assets within budget constraints, and fostering positive relationships with individuals, their families, guardians, and case managers. You will adhere strictly to confidentiality guidelines, report any incidents or instances of abuse, and ensure the rights and well-being of those served are respected at all times.
Health care support is also an essential part of this position. You may accompany individuals to medical appointments, help administer or support the administration of medications, monitor general health, and manage medical supplies and equipment. Proper meal preparation, aligned with individual dietary needs and preferences, is another key function.
Employment responsibilities include participating in orientation and ongoing training, adhering to scheduled hours, demonstrating teamwork, and maintaining workplace safety. You will also be expected to help with housekeeping, environmental safety, and minor maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and clean living environment.
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a current driver's license with at least one year of driving history without restrictions, be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in human services is advantageous. We value individuals who can work well within a team, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and quality care.
ResCare Community Living offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. The position supports a mission-driven culture with a focus on independence, respect, and dignity, making a difference in communities across the country. We are an equal opportunity employer and strive to provide an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive and contribute to a shared goal of service excellence.
