Job Requirements
- Accredited Ultrasound Technologist education
- one year of experience in adult echocardiography at IAC accredited institution or credentialed new grad within one year
- pediatric echocardiography experience preferred
- ability to obtain certification within six months
- BLS American Heart certification
- ability to work independently in high stress situations
- critical thinking skills
- ability to follow safety standards
- willingness to travel to satellite locations as required
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- registered as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute (CCI)
- Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- for pediatric echocardiography, credentials such as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Pediatric Echocardiography or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) are required
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or equivalent
- one year experience in adult echocardiography at an IAC accredited institution or credentialed new graduate within one year of graduation
- ability to obtain necessary credentials within six months of employment
Job Duties
- Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
- analyzes imaging results and takes appropriate action to improve image quality for optimal results
- enters, transmits, and reports thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to physician staff
- prepares equipment and supplies
- selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters
- applies safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
- troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary
- ensures proper working order of equipment
- reviews patient history and physician's orders
- educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient understanding and cooperation
- performs advanced diagnostic imaging (3D, myocardial mechanics, mechanical circulatory support devices, transcatheter therapies, etc.) when applicable
- travels to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures
- prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents and/or medications within scope of practice when applicable
- monitors patient condition and reports changes in status
- coordinates patient care with healthcare team to ensure effective patient care delivery
