By joining Proper Hospitality, employees become part of a vibrant community committed to building beautiful experiences together, fostering an empowering environment where everyone can imagine boldly, achieve confidently, care deeply, and present themselves authentically.

The Barback role at Proper Hospitality is vital to the seamless operation and elevated guest experience at the bar. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside bartenders and other bar staff in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, supporting each shift with efficiency, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The barback ensures the bar is fully stocked with liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, and other essential supplies, anticipating the needs of bartenders and replenishing items throughout shifts. They maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the bar area, including countertops, floors, and tools, ensuring the setting is pristine before opening and after closing.

In addition to logistical support, the barback assists with drink preparation by handling garnishes, pouring non-alcoholic beverages, and making simple drinks under the guidance of bartenders. By supporting bartenders during peak hours, they help facilitate quick service turnaround, enhancing the guests’ experience. Inventory management is another critical responsibility, including monitoring stock levels, rotating supplies to ensure freshness, tracking inventory, and helping with orders to avert shortages. The barback also fosters positive guest interactions by engaging with visitors in a friendly, professional manner and ensuring their needs are met promptly.

Proper Hospitality prioritizes safety and cleanliness in the bar, with the barback tasked to uphold sanitation standards and maintain a safe environment for both staff and guests. This includes cleaning spills promptly, sanitizing equipment and glassware, and adhering to health regulations. Collaboration is at the heart of the role, requiring strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and contribute to an energetic, welcoming bar atmosphere. This position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds, and working swiftly during busy service hours. Proper Hospitality values individuals who demonstrate a keen eye for detail, multitasking ability, and a proactive approach to supporting their team and guests.

Overall, the barback role at Proper Hospitality is ideal for those passionate about the hospitality industry, eager to develop skills in drink preparation and bar operations, and looking to thrive in an inclusive, supportive, and growth-oriented workplace.
