The Cage & Player Services Cashier position at Derby City Gaming Downtown plays a vital role in maintaining a flawless guest experience by managing all cash-related transactions efficiently and securely. This role is dedicated to providing courteous and professional interactions while supporting guests in redeeming gaming and sports wagering tickets or vouchers. Cashiers are responsible for cash advance and check cashing transactions, ensuring that all funds are counted accurately and that the cash drawer remains balanced throughout their shift. Besides handling financial transactions, the Cage & Player Services Cashier assists guests in purchasing merchandise from the on-site retail store, which involves providing expert advice, processing payments, handling returns and exchanges, and managing inventory queries.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- six months cashiering or banking experience preferred
- ability to obtain a valid Racing License
- willing to work flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- excellent guest service abilities

- ability to maintain cash drawer balance accurately

Job Duties
- Greet and interact with guests
- cash guests out, give correct change, and answer guest questions courteously
- accurately count and record assigned funds, make exchanges of funds throughout the shift
- keep cash drawer balanced and impressed
- make exchanges with vault
- accurately balance and oversee sports wagering funds
- verify and document personal identification for check and cash advance transactions
- complete CTRs, W2Gs, and MTLs
- consult with guests to understand their needs and preferences
- provide guest assistance in merchandise purchasing decisions
- collect merchandise payment using point of sale system
- process store merchandise returns and exchanges
- retrieve merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or inventory locations
- place special merchandise orders
- ensure safety and security of team members and guests
- follow all regulatory, administrative, and company policies
- perform other duties as assigned
