The Cafeteria Supervisor position at Macon Elementary, located at 650 Holcomb Road in Dallas, TX, provides an opportunity for a dedicated professional to oversee the daily operations of the school's food service program. This role is full-time with a day shift schedule and offers a minimum salary of $38,223. The supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring that students receive well-balanced and nutritious meals, which is fundamental to their learning and overall well-being. As a Cafeteria Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing meal preparation and delivery, adhering to safety and sanitation standards, maintaining federal, state, and local compliance in food services, and overseeing staff performance.

In this hands-on leadership role, the Cafeteria Supervisor ensures that all meals meet quality standards through the use of standardized recipes and menu instructions, contributing significantly to the health and safety of students and staff within the school environment. You will be tasked with preparing requisitions for food and supplies, resolving operational issues at the local level, supervising and training cafeteria employees, maintaining accurate program records, and ensuring fiscal accountability through proper documentation and procedure adherence. Essential to the position is the ability to effectively communicate and cooperate with central staff and various department heads to ensure smooth and efficient food service operations. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining high safety standards, managing resources wisely, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Job Requirements

  • Accredited senior high school diploma or valid equivalent (USA equivalency)
  • Two to four years formal job related training
  • One year successful management experience in food service or successful completion of the Dallas Independent School District Training Program
  • Must have approved City of Dallas Safety and Sanitation Certification within one month of hire
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food services rules and regulations to meet federal, state and local guidelines
  • Ability to operate and maintain institutional equipment
  • Ability to communicate in English by speaking, reading and writing
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus

Job Duties

  • Provide students with a well-balanced and nutritious meal
  • Manage the preparation and delivery of quality meals for all food through the use of standardized recipes and instructions on the menus to students and staff
  • Ensure that high safety and sanitation standards are complied with by staff to ensure the health and safety of both staff and students
  • Ensure that food service program meets or exceeds federal, state, local laws and regulations
  • Ensure the requirements in the area of meal service accountability are adhered to within district guidelines
  • Prepare and submit requisitions for food and supplies according to menus and delivery schedules to meet the daily requirements of the assigned cafeteria
  • Resolve internal issues and communicate issues that cannot be handled at local level to central staff
  • Requisition small equipment, cleaning supplies and promptly reports needed equipment repairs to central office
  • Supervise the work activities of the cafeteria including interviewing and training employees
  • planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Maintain complete records for program accountability including deliveries, cash receipts and meals served
  • follow and enforce district and departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform all other job related duties as assigned by supervisor, principal and all department heads
