Job Description

Publix Super Markets, Inc. is a leading American supermarket chain that has built a strong reputation for excellent customer service, quality products, and a commitment to community values. Founded in 1930, Publix operates throughout the southeastern United States, providing customers with fresh groceries, pharmacy services, and prepared foods. The company is renowned for its employee-focused culture, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits. As a community-oriented company, Publix places high importance on fostering a positive work environment where associates can thrive and contribute to the company’s mission of being the premier quality food retailer in each community it serves.

This particular role focuses on preparing, cooking, and serving meals for Publix associates, ensuring that all food served meets the company’s high standards for quality and safety. The position requires working primarily in Orlando, FL, with responsibilities extending to occasional weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as necessary. Candidates for this role should have a keen knowledge of cooking principles and a passion for culinary arts. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, demanding physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team. This job offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their culinary career within a supportive and well-established organization.

In this role, you will handle a variety of cooking methods and prepare a diverse menu of entrees, ensuring that all food preparation complies with stringent food safety regulations. A key part of the job is ensuring that all meals are prepared hygienically and presented in an appealing manner. The role also involves responsibilities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, bending and twisting as needed, and following recipe instructions accurately. Additionally, successful candidates must complete the Basic Office Skills Test before starting and hold or obtain the Food Safety Professionals certification within 90 days from their start date. Certified cooking experience from environments such as restaurants, Publix cafeterias, or culinary schools is highly valued. The role also requires the ability to drive a company vehicle if working in Orlando, so having a valid driver's license is essential.

Publix’s commitment to its associates is evident through its encouragement of enthusiasm, pride in work, and initiative. This position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and quality — attributes central to Publix’s workplace culture and mission. If you are eager to contribute to a company that values community engagement and professional growth, this cooking role at Publix offers a meaningful career path with robust support and training, competitive pay, and benefits.
