The position of Café Manager at Tatte represents an exciting leadership opportunity within the café front-of-house team. This is a full-time role based in New York, NY, offering competitive pay that typically ranges from $31.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on experience. The Café Manager works closely with the café management team to uphold Tatte’s high standards in guest experience, team member engagement, and operational execution. As a key supervisory role, the Café Manager plays an integral part in ensuring smooth daily operations and acts as an ambassador of the brand’s mission and values. This position is ideal for individuals enthusiastic about developing their leadership skills and interested in progressing towards an Assistant General Manager role.

The Café Manager leads by example, fostering a warm and authentic hospitality environment that encourages team members to deliver service that is genuine, welcoming, and aligned with Tatte’s standards. Responsibilities include orchestrating the deployment of team members during shifts, guiding and motivating the team to exceed guest expectations, and ensuring all products meet quality and visual standards. Managers also partner with the team to maintain rigorous food safety protocols, comply with administrative and cash handling procedures, and participate in ongoing training initiatives. Exceptional communication and people management skills are essential for navigating challenging situations with grace and professionalism.

In addition to operational duties, the Café Manager embraces a flexible work schedule involving days, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs. This role demands physical stamina, including extended periods of standing and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates with at least six months of supervisory experience and knowledge of café operations will find this role rewarding. Previous familiarity with point-of-sale systems like Toast, and certifications such as ServSafe and ChokeSaver, are highly preferred.

Job Duties

  • Models authentic, warm guest experience and coaches the overall hospitality experience
  • brings our brand purpose, mission and values to life and adheres to all Tatte policies
  • in partnership with the café management team, continuously upholds Tatte operational standards regarding service, product knowledge, safety and sanitation through execution of company training systems and standard operating procedures
  • leads team through shifts, overseeing deployment of team members and execution of running great shifts, providing clear, specific and timely feedback to team members on shift to ensure operational excellence
  • ensures that all Tatte products (beverage, bakery & savory) adhere to recipe and visual standards and communicate any quality issues to the appropriate teams
  • displays skill in leading and navigating hard conversations with team members and guests
  • assists with new team member training, by following company training plan(s) and gives positive feedback to recognize the team member’s effort and achievements and constructive, respectful feedback to help the team member grow and develop
