Job Description

Capital One is a leading financial services company that is redefining the traditional banking experience through innovative digital solutions and community-focused engagement. As a well-established entity within the banking and financial technology sector, Capital One strives to make banking more accessible, transparent, and customer-centric. Their unique approach combines cutting-edge technology with human connection to create vibrant community hubs where banking is personal and approachable rather than transactional and impersonal. Capital One is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that values diversity, professional growth, and meaningful impact on customers and communities alike.

The Cafe Ambassador position at Capital One, based at Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, OR, offers an exciting opportunity to be the face of this mission. Unlike traditional banking roles confined behind teller lines or service windows, this role places you directly within a lively, community-focused cafe environment. As a Cafe Ambassador, you act as a high-end service curator and digital banking guide, engaging guests proactively to bridge the gap between modern technology and personalized service. Your role is instrumental in building a connected community by facilitating learning and interactions around Capital One's banking products and digital tools without the pressure of sales quotas or transactional demands.

In this position, you will guide customers through Capital One's digital ecosystem, helping them navigate mobile banking applications and solve technical issues efficiently and patiently. Furthermore, you will host and support local events aimed at promoting financial health and wellness, ensuring these initiatives align with the company's strategic partnerships and community-focused programs. Critical to the role is the ability to manage customer advocacy and problem resolution while complying with regulatory guidelines, including handling escalated and complex situations with professionalism and empathy.

The role demands someone with a natural talent for connecting with a diverse range of people in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will serve as a brand ambassador who fosters an inclusive culture where every guest feels welcome and valued. The position requires agility and mobility, as you will be actively moving throughout the cafe space to provide assistance and support the overall guest experience. This role also offers a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays, supporting a work environment that is both engaged and responsive to business needs.

Capital One offers a competitive salary range for this full-time role in Portland, Oregon, from $47,840 to $55,016 per year, alongside a comprehensive benefits package. Employees receive day-one coverage for medical, dental, and vision care, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, paid time off, education assistance, and retirement contribution matching. Additional perks include paid parental leave, mental health support, back-up childcare and eldercare, exclusive perks like signature Threads apparel, custom beverages during shifts, and more. This role is suited for candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of retail, sales, or customer service experience. Preferred qualifications include Associate’s degree, banking experience, proficiency in G-Suite, and strong communication skills.

Joining Capital One as a Cafe Ambassador is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking organization that values empowerment, inclusivity, and innovation. Candidates who thrive in fast-paced, customer-centric, and tech-savvy environments will find a rewarding career path here with plenty of room for growth and meaningful community impact. This role is ideal for individuals who want to help shape the future of banking while working in a vibrant community setting that breaks from traditional norms and fosters authentic connections.
