The role of CAD Technician at LJA Surveying offers an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to leverage their drafting and engineering technology skills within a collaborative team setting. This position involves independently managing drafting support for assigned projects, requiring a solid grasp of engineering principles and survey techniques specifically within the state of Florida’s standards. A typical day includes processing conventional field notes and digital data, interacting with survey field crews to analyze and utilize survey data for creating plats, sketches, and exhibits used for various builder services. In addition, the CAD Technician is expected to produce control data sheets, horizontal and vertical control sheets, compute construction layout points, and perform detailed technical writing and checking of property descriptions. This role demands a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of survey experience
  • CADD experience
  • Civil 3D proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-focused environment
  • Flexibility to changes in work assignments on short notice or daily as project needs change

Job Duties

  • Process conventional field notes and digitally collected data, analyze field data, and interact with survey field crews
  • Use survey data for the creation of survey plats, sketches, and exhibits including surveys for builder services such as vacant, form board, foundation, and final surveys
  • Create Survey Control Data Sheets, Survey Control Index Sheets, Horizontal and Vertical Control Sheets
  • Compute data points for construction layout
  • Understand technical survey requirements and specifications of the State of Florida standards of practice
  • Write and check Metes and Bounds Descriptions
