Job Requirements
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift
- hand use including grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and cold environments
- ability to handle knives and cutting equipment safely
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks
Job Qualifications
- completed WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training program
- 14+ months retail experience
- excellent cutting skills with ability to bread product into sub-primal and retail cuts
- knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood
- ability to examine products for quality and freshness
- strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
- ability to deliver clear information to Team Members, customers, and vendors
- meet customer service expectations
- effective time management and organization skills

Job Duties
- cuts, platters, and merchandises products including beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry
- prepares specialty meat merchandise such as sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats
- checks product to meet quality standards
- maintains sampling program
- monitors and assists in preventing spoilage
- mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s)
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, and ready to work
- provides excellent customer service and addresses customer needs promptly
- maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
- follows health and sanitation and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties
- reports safety hazards and violations immediately
- performs other duties as assigned by leadership
