The current opening is for a full-time Busser position located at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the dining area, supporting the efficient service of meals in a healthcare setting. The position operates on a full-time schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with rotating weekend shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of healthcare foodservice. The pay range is competitive, from $15.00 to $15.25 per hour, with additional incentives including a $500 sign-on bonus and a $1.00 hourly weekend shift differential. This position requires prior dishwashing and food service experience for optimal performance.

As a Busser, the employee plays a vital role in the overall guest experience by setting and clearing restaurant tables promptly, stocking service stations, and assisting servers with food and beverage service. Attendance and punctuality are essential since the role ensures that tables are quickly prepared for new guests and that dining areas meet high standards of cleanliness and order. Responsibilities extend to maintaining stock levels, cleaning floors, wiping down seating areas, folding napkins, and handling incidental guest requests. This position demands attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Beyond the essential duties, team members may be called upon to perform other cleaning and service-related tasks as assigned, ensuring the continuity of excellent service delivery.

Job Duties

  • Sets and clears restaurant tables
  • stocks all service stations
  • assists food servers with table service
  • quickly clears dirty table settings and prepares table for resetting
  • maintains stock and cleanliness of stations including silverware, linen and condiments
  • wipes down booths and chairs
  • moves tables and chairs
  • cleans floors as necessary
  • serves guests beverages, breads and butter and replenishes as necessary
  • assists servers with food and beverage service
  • transports all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area
  • performs general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products
  • folds napkins to maintain an adequate supply
  • performs assigned side work including replenishing condiments and restocking side stands
  • cleans unexpected spills
  • handles special guest requests
  • greets and seats guests
