Job Description
Located in Memphis, Tennessee, this restaurant is committed to providing a high-quality dining experience to its guests through impeccable service and a clean, welcoming environment. The establishment prides itself on creating an atmosphere where guests feel valued and satisfied, whether they are dining in for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion. This role is essential in upholding these values and standards by maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area and supporting the front-of-house team in delivering exceptional customer service.
The position of a restaurant support staff member involves a variety of responsibilities designed to ensure that the dining area is always guest-ready and that service runs smoothly. This includes keeping restaurant tables and surrounding areas clean and presentable, assisting hosts and servers, and participating actively in the overall flow of the restaurant’s operations to maximize efficiency and quality. The role demands attention to detail, a proactive approach to tasks such as setting up stations with necessary supplies like polished flatware, B&B plates, coffee and tea supplies, and glassware, and the timely clearing and resetting of tables between courses and after guests leave.
A key aspect of this job is maintaining hygiene and safety standards. This includes rigorous sanitizing of the front-of-house areas including tables, chairs, floors, windows, and restrooms. The staff member must also comply fully with health and safety procedures such as frequent hand washing, using equipment safely, reporting hazards, and adhering to OSHA, HACCP, ServSafe, and personal protective equipment guidelines. These standards ensure both the well-being of guests and staff and the smooth operation of the restaurant.
Another significant component of the role is customer interaction. Support staff are expected to greet guests appropriately, serve water, rolls, and butter, provide refills, and show courtesy and professionalism at all times to enhance guest satisfaction. They also assist during busy periods by helping to deliver food, restock supplies, and maintain a well-stocked and organized dining room. Communication with hosts, servers, and other team members is essential to maintain service efficiency and foster a team-oriented environment.
This full-time position requires physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to stand for the entire shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and work in varying temperature environments—from warm dining rooms to cold storage areas. Hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays, emphasizing flexibility and dedication.
Overall, this role is critical in ensuring that every guest leaves the restaurant satisfied with both the quality of their meal and the service provided. It offers individuals a dynamic work environment where teamwork, efficiency, and a keen eye for detail are valued and where contributions directly affect the dining experience. With opportunities to develop various relevant skills such as food service procedures, sanitation, teamwork, and guest relations, this position is ideal for those passionate about hospitality and customer service in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
