As a key player in regional mobility solutions, CCRTA operates a comprehensive network of bus routes and services that connect residents, commuters, and visitors to essential destinations across the city and surrounding areas. Known for its commitment to customer service, safety, and sustainability, CCRTA fosters a collaborative work environment that emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation in public transit.

The CCRTA is currently seeking a dependable and professional Bus Operator to join its Transportation Department. In this role, the Bus Operator is responsible for adhering strictly to safety regulations and company policies, providing courteous and friendly service to passengers, and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Operators facilitate passenger boarding, travel, and disembarking at scheduled stops on fixed routes, special charter routes, or shuttle services. The position is essential to upholding the CCRTA’s mission of delivering accessible transit options and enhancing the public transportation experience for a diverse ridership.

Candidates for this position must hold, or be in the process of obtaining, a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with a passenger endorsement, specifically compliant with Texas Department of Public Safety requirements. The hiring process includes passing multiple written tests and a pre-employment job agility evaluation as well as a Department of Transportation physical and drug screening. The position also requires clearance through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and adherence to strict driving history criteria to ensure passenger safety and service quality.

The CCRTA offers a competitive salary starting at $19.73 per hour during training and $22.68 per hour once in service. Additionally, the Bus Operator position includes a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ health, financial security, and professional development, including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and employee assistance programs.

This Bus Operator opportunity at CCRTA is ideal for individuals with strong customer service skills, reliable driving experience, and a dedication to public transit and community service. Joining CCRTA means becoming part of an organization that values diversity, equal opportunity, and reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities in compliance with federal and state law. Prospective employees will find a supportive and structured work environment committed to safety, professionalism, and continuous employee growth.
