Job Description

Mediacom Communications is a leading telecommunications company that has established a strong presence across 22 states in the United States since its inception in 1995. With a dedicated team of more than 4,000 employees, Mediacom is on a mission to bridge the digital divide between America's major metropolitan areas and smaller regional communities. The company focuses on delivering faster, more reliable internet service, an expanded range of free digital and HD TV options, and advanced technology offerings in home security and phone services. This comprehensive range of products is supported by Mediacom's culture of continuous growth, innovation, and commitment to providing high-quality, customer-focused solutions.

Mediacom Communications is dedicated to delivering easy-to-use, high-tech entertainment, communication, and internet services tailored to its wide-ranging customer base. As the company grows, it consistently creates new career opportunities for talented professionals eager to contribute to its mission. Joining Mediacom means becoming part of a dynamic team committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and service excellence.

The available role is for a technical field position primarily responsible for maintaining the Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) plant from the node to the tap. This includes routine maintenance and repairs of the CATV distribution system and High-Speed Data (HSD) systems, as well as managing system turn-ons for new distribution. The technician will also ensure the operation of trunk systems is maintained effectively, troubleshooting and repairing equipment or power failures as necessary.

Key responsibilities involve conducting system tests, including signal-to-noise ratio, signal-to-hum, summation sweeps, and return loss bridge, among others. The technician will set trunk signal levels, swap out trunk amplifiers, and calculate signal losses on both trunk and distribution lines. Proficiency in installation, power connections, and maintenance of power supplies is also required. The technician will manage test equipment properly and assume full responsibility for the troubleshooting and repair of coaxial and fiber-optic distribution systems.

Moreover, the role involves preparing project estimates, including providing bills of materials, working with various connectors, fasteners, and cables, and using hand tools. There is an expectation of climbing poles and ladders safely, lifting heavy equipment up to 100 pounds, and performing tasks in confined spaces such as crawl spaces. The position may include on-call duties and requires adherence to all relevant safety, regulatory, and company procedures to ensure exceptional customer experiences.

Mediacom offers a competitive hourly wage range of $20.00 to $25.00, which is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, and certifications or licenses. The company ensures ongoing training, career development, and promotional opportunities for its employees, emphasizing its investment in workforce growth.

Joining Mediacom means enjoying a robust benefits package, including company-provided vehicles and gas cards, tools, tablets, and phones. Employees receive health, vision, and dental insurance, paid vacation, holidays, and flexible paid time off. Additional perks include a 401K plan with generous company matching, performance bonuses, employee discounts on services, and educational enrichment incentives. Mediacom prioritizes employee wellness by offering programs and uniforms with boots to support fieldwork. The company is also recognized for its inclusive workplace culture, earning multiple awards such as the Best Managed Companies for several consecutive years and recognition as a great place for women and people of color to work.

Mediacom Communications is committed to equal employment opportunity, ensuring that all applicants are evaluated without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristics. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong technical background in broadband, cable systems, and fiber optics seeking a rewarding career with a respected and growing telecommunications provider.
