Joining Eataly as a Bread Baker offers the unique opportunity to work within their fast-paced 24-hour bakery that prides itself on creating authentic Italian breads and focaccias using traditional recipes. The Bread Baker will be responsible for preparing a variety of bread items including focaccia, rolls, and other specialty breads, vital to the success of both the retail and restaurant operations. Working under the supervision of the Bakery Manager, this role requires a dedication to maintaining the highest quality standards in proofing, baking, and handling of bread products. Bakers must adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation standards set by the Department of Health, ensuring a clean and safe production environment.

The role offers a chance to develop mastery across different shifts and baking processes, refining skills with the use of traditional wood-burning ovens, electric pizza convection ovens, and commercial spiral mixers. Interaction with guests is also an important component, as the Bread Baker may assist Sales Associates and share insights about bread production, enriching the customer experience and fostering an appreciation for artisanal baking. This night shift position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a hands-on, dynamic culinary environment and are passionate about maintaining the authenticity and quality that Eataly is known for.

Job Requirements

  • Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends
  • overnights highly preferred
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
  • ability to work with a wood burning oven, electric pizza convection oven and commercial spiral mixer

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of experience in a baker preparation position
  • basic math and measuring skills
  • good work ethic, communication and time management skills
  • post-secondary culinary program highly preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other bread items for Eataly’s restaurants and retail operations
  • follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread
  • maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
  • works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
  • assists Sales Associates if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our bread production
  • performs other duties as required or assigned
