Job Description
The Junto is a unique and dynamic establishment inspired by the original club founded by Ben Franklin, known as a "club for mutual improvement." Embracing that spirit, The Junto is a modern-day embodiment where visitors, local residents, entrepreneurs, and artists converge to share ideas, inspire one another, and enjoy a vibrant public gathering space. Situated in the heart of Columbus, The Junto is more than just a hotel—it is a destination and a landmark that enhances the cultural and social fabric of the community. The hotel prioritizes creating spaces that foster connection and creativity, providing a welcoming environment for diverse groups to meet and grow together. One of the highlights within The Junto is Brass Eye, an unpretentious rooftop bar offering a relaxed yet energetic atmosphere. Brass Eye is designed as the perfect outpost for casual gatherings, social adventures, and lively assemblies with a focus on hospitality that aligns with The Drinker’s Dictionary ethos, promising guests a memorable "brass eye" experience. The role of the Bar Back at The Junto, particularly in Brass Eye, is pivotal to maintaining the smooth operation of the bar and ensuring all guests enjoy exceptional service. The individual in this position acts as a silent hero behind the scenes. They are responsible for meticulously stocking, cleaning, and organizing the bar, ensuring that the bartenders can effectively create craft cocktails and serve wines with precision. This role requires keen attention to detail, from keeping glassware spotless to maintaining fresh ingredients and ensuring spirits and mixers are readily available throughout the shift. The Bar Back anticipates needs in advance, troubleshoots equipment issues such as low CO2 or dishwasher malfunctions, and maintains cleanliness across all areas of the bar including the bar top, bar back, waste bins, and floors. This position demands a thorough understanding of the beverage menu, the brand’s vision, and quality standards to support the bar team in delivering an outstanding guest experience. The Junto values individuals who are proactive, detailed, and able to thrive in a team environment where collaboration and communication are key. The company is committed to equity and diversity, providing an inclusive workplace where every team member can be their true independent self. Benefits offered to team members include accommodating paid time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, a company-matched dependent care and 401(k) plan, a student loan repayment program, and a broad range of additional ancillary benefits. The Junto adheres closely to Makeready LLC’s Guiding Principles, building a culture centered on respect, support, and mutual success. This position offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to grow within a vibrant hospitality setting dedicated to community, creativity, and exceptional service.
