The Branch Manager role at Summit Fire & Security is pivotal in maintaining the operational and financial health of assigned branches. This leadership position requires overseeing all aspects of branch management, including operations, sales, and financial performance to ensure achievement of set objectives like profitability, growth, and robust performance metrics. The Branch Manager supervises critical fire protection services such as fire extinguisher inspections, fire sprinkler installations, and fire alarm system servicing, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. They are responsible for managing profit and loss statements, gross revenues, margins, and overheads, providing strategic insight and collaborating closely with management to discuss growth strategies and resource needs. This role demands a proactive approach to workforce management, including staffing, mentoring emerging leaders, and maintaining effective communication protocols in conjunction with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition.

Further responsibilities entail supervising operational quality assurance measures, scheduling efficiencies, safety compliance, and asset maintenance, including tools, equipment, and fleet management. The Branch Manager ensures smooth coordination between sales and operations teams to facilitate effective project scheduling and execution. Additionally, they oversee billing accuracy, promote business development efforts to expand market share, and encourage ongoing employee certification and professional development. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years in the fire protection industry
  • at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • NICET II, III, IV or state equivalent preferred
  • valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • ability to travel 50% of the time
  • compliance with drug and alcohol policy and background screening
  • effective communication skills
  • computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • leadership experience managing over 10 team members
  • analytical skills with business intelligence systems
  • commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years in the fire protection industry with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • NICET II, III, IV or state equivalent preferred
  • 5 years fire protection industry experience
  • 5 years of professional computer skills preferred
  • 2 years leadership experience with over 10 direct and indirect subordinates
  • 3 years analytical experience using business intelligence systems, Sage 300 CRE or similar
  • ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees, customers and board or directors
  • ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office
  • valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • compliance with drug and alcohol policy and background screening requirements
  • ability to travel 50% of the time

Job Duties

  • Responsible for achieving branch objectives through enhancement and improvements of operations and sales
  • oversight of the branch’s fire extinguisher inspections and services
  • pre-engineered inspections, services, and installs
  • fire sprinkler inspections, service, and installs
  • and fire alarm inspection and services
  • responsible for the financial performance of assigned area as indicated on profit and loss statement(s) including gross revenue, gross margin, and overhead
  • communicate and strategize with management regarding financial progress, growth strategies, human capital requirements and regular or irregular needs of the office
  • ensure proper execution of internal workflow/paperwork, work in the field, quality assurance/quality control, and all work is performed in a safe manner within local, state, and federal guidelines
  • maintain proper employment communication and documentation with human resources and ensure appropriate staffing levels with talent acquisition
  • identify, assess, cultivate, and mentor future managers and leaders within location and communicate development strategy with management
  • oversee proper use, maintenance, and repair of company assets including equipment, tools, supplies, and fleet in coordination with corporate purchasing and fleet department
  • manage work performed within assigned area including oversight of spot checks of recent field inspections, ride-a-longs with field technicians, route management of technicians, overall safety of branch location, attending and monitoring install project meetings and coordination meetings
  • oversee coordination and execution of inspections and service jobs
  • lead coordination of final checkout/commissioning with authorities having jurisdiction, owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and construction managers
  • ensure appropriate communication of schedules, materials, coordination of work between sales and operations
  • review the shop’s material preparation, orders, job staging and tool preparation
  • manage material orders in coordination with purchasing department
  • oversee communication with billing department for accurate and timely invoicing
  • oversee the sales department to achieve increased market share
  • promote and coordinate continuing education and certification of employees
  • perform other assigned duties as necessary
